(2^nd International Conference of the Committee for Folk Architecture of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Veszprém)

(In Hungarian) Nép(i)építészet: A hagyományoktól a jövőig (Az MTA VEAB Népi Építészeti Munkabizottság 2. nemzetközi konferenciája)

A konferencia a VEB2023 Európa Kulturális Fővárosa programsorozat eseményeként valósul meg.
The conference is an event of the VEB2023 European Capital of Culture programme.

Co-organized by the Research Institute of Art Theory and Methodology of the Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA MMKI) and the Symmetry Foundation

The first conference was organized in 2012, but from now we plan triennial events with different sites in Central Europe.

Suggested topics for the conference:

(1) Learning from the local traditional methods, which could be useful for dealing with the problems that we face now (saving energy, using materials that can be recycled, sustainability, etc.)

(2) How folk (vernacular) architecture may inspire contemporary architecture?

(3) What could be the function of the monuments of folk architecture in our age?

(4) How do folk architecture and tourism may cooperate (sustainable tourism)?

(5) Teaching of folk (vernacular) architecture.

Planned schedule:

27 August – meeting in Budapest and a preliminary conference (the Hungarian capital city has an international airport and it is also a hub for the railway and bus routes)
